Best Horror Films for Halloween
October 23, 2017Halloween week is upon us, which means that its time to get into the spooky mood. I've never been one to full on celebrate Halloween before - I'm one of those people who start celebrating Christmas in September - but that won't stop me from watching some scary movies and going to a party or two. I'll watch a scary film no matter the time of the year - which means that I have a huge back log of scary films that are worth a watch.
So today I thought I'd share some of my favourites - perfect for those who prefer to keep the blood, guts and gore strictly on screen.
Sinister
A super natural horror film staring Ethan Hawke, a true crime writer who moves his family into the home where a murder has taken place. A box of home movies show the gruesome deaths of different families, which Ethan Hawke investigates.
One of my favourite films, which always makes me feel creeped out.
Willow Creek
A found footage film where a couple camp at the site of the Patterson-Gimlin film of Big Foot, despite warnings to stay away.
This is a film full of suspense and fear of the unknown.
Saw Franchise
8 films following the games and traps that Jigsaw puts his victims in to torture them, instead of killing them himself.
These films are full of blood, guts and gore - not for the faint hearted. You'll find yourself cringing and covering your eyes as each task unfolds.
Don't Breathe
Three friends break into a blind man's house, to rob him of $300,000. The man is an ex-army veteran and is equipped to deal with the intruders, who stumble upon something hidden in his basement.
This is an intense film, full of suspense and perfect for any who like thrillers.
The Conjouring
This film follows Ed and Lorraine Warren as they investigate paranormal hauntings of a family in Rhode Island.
My favourite in The Conjouring Series; this film is full of jumps and scares, with demonic creatures and ghosts that are sure to get a few screams from you.
The Thing
A team of researchers based in Antartica meet an alien with the ability to transform into any life form that it absorbs.
This creature is sure to give you the creeps, as you're second guessing whether the characters are really themselves.
The Babadook
After reading her son a book about the Babadook, strange things start happening around the house of a widow and her son, as she is tormented by the Babadook.
This psychological thriller will leave you terrified of the name Babadook-dook-dook.
So these are my scary movie suggestions - of course there are so many more films that I could rave on about, and that might make up a new post too. What are your favourite horror films? Do you have any recommendations for me?

Emily
